What immediately comes to mind is the quote "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" Abraham Lincoln. [Side note: I researched whether he said this before I posted, and I noticed that ABC News quoted him saying this as well - I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt]
